School: Overview: In the Eyes of Others…
Those who have been involved with the School of Business Administration for
many years can most accurately assess the magnitude of the changes that have
occurred. Only they can compare the past with the present and compare what we
were to what we are. The following statements from some of our prominent alumni
and friends demonstrate how much has happened in the last few years:
- “The School of Business Administration has consistently provided much of the
business leadership in our State, and many regionally and nationally successful
members of the business community as well. The School’s faculty and great new
facilities position it to continue this historically dynamic role into the
future.”
Aubrey Patterson, Chairman and CEO of Bancorp South, President Elect of the
American Bankers Association, and past president of the Business Advisory
Council.
- “The past several years have been witness to the beginning of the
fulfillment of a vision to make the Ole Miss Business School one of the best
programs in the country. Raising the quality of our students, staff, faculty,
and facilities has been a major factor in moving our program to a new level. We
have come a long way, and still have some more to go, but the unselfish
dedication of our administration and the generosity of our alumni and friends
brought us to where we are – and will take us the rest of the way. It is fun to
be a part of that. It is what makes us the community of Ole Miss.”
Beau Whittington, President of Convention Services, Inc., and past president
of the Business Advisory Council.
- “Over the past five years it has been extremely gratifying to see The
University of Mississippi School of Business Administration move forward with an
enthusiasm and excitement that has translated into a strengthened faculty, new
state-of-the-art facilities, a growing enrollment, and increased alumni
involvement. It is clear that the School and its leaders are delivering on their
promise of making the Ole Miss business school one of the finest in the nation.”
Mike Ellis, retired from Merrill Lynch, member of the Board of Directors of
the University of Mississippi Foundation and the Business Advisory Council.
- “All of my life I have viewed Ole Miss as a very special place. It is one of
a kind with its beauty, charm, and feeling of warmth and family. For more than
150 years Ole Miss has seduced alumni, students, and guests into a great love
affair with it. Over the past several years, the Ole Miss School of Business
Administration has developed its own lure to alumni, faculty, and students. The
same grand qualities of Ole Miss have been coupled with state-of-the-art
facilities, nationally recognized faculty, and top-tier students from all across
the nation to transform the Ole Miss School of Business Administration into
something very unique. It makes me proud to proclaim that ‘I got my degree from
the Ole Miss School of Business Administration’.”
Samuel W. Owen, retired, member of the Business Advisory Council.
- “I have never been more excited about what’s going on within the School of
Business Administration. When you combine the quality of the Business School
with the caliber of students we are able to attract, it can only mean a bright
outlook for Mississippi and Mississippi companies who recruit Ole Miss
graduates. Keep up the good work!”
Don Breazeale; Kientz, Martin, Hill, and Breazeale and member of the
Insurance Advisory Council.
- “The world is realizing what we’ve known all along. Ole Miss is more than an
academic institution – it’s a confident frame of mind and an elegant way of
expressing it. The business school faculty builds on this special attribute and
gives graduates a unique comparative advantage in the global market.”
Rod Taylor, Owner and CEO of Intra, Ltd., and a member of the Banking and
Finance Advisory Council.
- “I’m so proud of the change in the Insurance and Risk Management Program at
Ole Miss over the past five years, I want to showcase it to the industry. The
same drive and determination to be the best shows throughout the entire Business
School and it seems to be getting stronger each year. I can’t wait to see what
we’ll be doing next and to let everyone know about it.”
Bill Bryson, Owner of Bryson & Company and a member of the Insurance
Advisory Council.
